The US says it will set up 'fenceless food centers' in Gaza with its allies after claiming signs of 'real hunger'

U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that his administration, along with other allied countries, will "establish unfenced food centers" in Gaza, allowing residents access without the obstacles that currently exist.

"We're going to set up food hubs, and we're going to do it in partnership with some very good people. We're going to provide funding. We've just raised billions of dollars. We have a lot of money, and we're going to invest some of it in food, " he declared before meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his Turnberry golf resort in western Scotland.
Trump said other countries, including the United Kingdom, are willing to help set up these food centers "where people can enter without barriers."
"Now they can't. They see the food 30 meters away, they see it, it's all there, but no one goes for it because there are fences that prevent them. It's crazy what happens there ," he said.
Speaking before Starmer arrived at the compound , the Republican leader asserted that he "sees a ceasefire in Gaza as possible," despite his country and Israel's withdrawal from the negotiations. He also acknowledged that there is famine because he sees "starving children" on television.

Asked by the press if he saw a truce as possible, the president insisted that his administration wants to "move it forward."
The United States withdrew from the talks in Qatar after Israel did so on July 24, believing that the Islamist group Hamas was obstructing them.
Asked whether he agrees with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that there is no famine in the Gaza Strip, Trump said, "Not especially," as the images he sees on television suggest "there are starving children," though he blamed Hamas for stealing the food.
For his part, Starmer reiterated this Monday that the situation in Gaza is "an absolute catastrophe," after announcing on Saturday that the United Kingdom will work with Jordan to launch humanitarian air aid and is preparing a plan with Berlin and Paris to guarantee peace once a ceasefire is in place.

After meeting with the Labour leader, the two will travel to his other golf resort in Aberdeen, northeast Scotland, where Trump will open a second golf course with his sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr. and meet with Scottish First Minister John Swinney.
