GNR receives vessel to patrol Lagos do Sabor
The reservoir patrol project was presented on the banks of the Sabor River, in the municipality of Mogadouro.
The new equipment, with capacity for three operators, will allow the Environmental Protection Unit (NPA) of the Guard to intensify patrolling and inspection actions in those lakes, “aiming to guarantee the safety of people and property, as well as compliance with the legal standards in force”.
Surveillance and control will focus, with particular attention, on activities such as hunting, fishing, extraction of inert materials, water collection and recreational boating.
In addition to this purpose, the boat can be used in rescue operations in the event of incidents in the reservoir.
According to the GNR, this is “an essential resource to strengthen operations in the Sabor Lakes, in fulfilling the mission of protecting nature and the environment, as environmental police. This vessel consolidates detection, surveillance, monitoring and control capabilities, contributing to the reinforcement of river patrols in the district of Bragança”.
