Russia to Start Fining for Public Transport Lateness

A bill has been submitted to the Russian State Duma for consideration, which proposes the introduction of fines for late public transport in the country. This is reported by the newspaper Izvestia .
According to the project, the period of acceptable delay or late departure will be up to 15 minutes for city transport and up to 30 minutes for suburban transport. International flights may be delayed up to four hours.
The document introduces a fine of 3 to 5 thousand rubles for officials, 5 to 10 thousand for individual entrepreneurs, and 10 to 30 thousand for legal entities. However, the measures will not be applied to the carrier if the delay occurred for reasons beyond its control.
The authors of the initiative, members of the LDPR, believe that this measure will reduce the number of public transport delays and increase the reliability of the transport infrastructure.
Earlier it was reported that the St. Petersburg authorities would purchase a new batch of giant buses.
