Sergey Katyrin: Trade between Russia and Brazil can be developed in energy, agro-industrial complex and digital technologies

The most promising areas of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Brazil are energy, the agro-industrial complex, digitalization and automation of production. This was announced by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin during a working visit to Rio de Janeiro, where the annual meeting of the BRICS Business Council is taking place today.

"We currently have very good indicators for mutual trade, but there are still reserves that we can use to further develop and increase trade turnover. We see promising areas such as energy, the agro-industrial complex, digitalization and automation of production," he said.

Katyrin recalled that by the end of 2024, trade between the countries had increased to a record $12.4 billion. Russian exports grew by 9.5% over the year and amounted to the highest in modern history, $10.96 billion.

According to him, Russian companies are ready to participate in projects in the areas of infrastructure development, transport, and ecology.

The Chairman of the RF CCI Committee on Exhibition, Fair and Congress Activities, General Director of JSC Expocentre Maxim Fateev, who is part of the delegation to Brazil, also sees potential in holding exhibitions.

“Over the past three years, the number of participants from BRICS countries at Expocentre exhibitions has grown fivefold, reaching a record 66% of the total area, which confirms their effectiveness in finding business partners. Industry exhibitions have long become more than just a showcase for the BRICS countries, but a full-fledged mechanism for economic interaction,” he emphasized.
