The court has suspended proceedings in the criminal case against former Deputy Prime Minister of Chuvashia Pavel Danilov, accused of accepting a bribe of 50.5 million rubles, according to documents available to RIA Novosti. According to the investigation, in August 2022 - March 2024, Danilov, as Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Chuvashia - Minister of Construction and Housing and Public Utilities of the Republic, received bribes in the amount of 50.5 million rubles both through an intermediary and personally. He took money and valuables from a representative of two commercial organizations for assistance in concluding government contracts with them by organizations subordinated and controlled by the Ministry of Construction of Chuvashia. A criminal case was opened against Danilov under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (acceptance of a bribe by an official for illegal actions on an especially large scale). In March of this year, the case was referred to court. "The proceedings have been suspended," the materials say without specifying the reason. According to the Code of Civil Procedure of Russia, the court is obliged to suspend the proceedings in the case, including in the event of the death of a citizen, recognition of a party as incompetent, participation of a citizen in combat operations as part of the Armed Forces of Russia, the impossibility of considering the case until another decision, or an appeal to the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation.
