The trial regarding the Bolu Kartalkaya hotel fire disaster begins; the hearing may last all week!

The first hearing of the case in which a total of 32 defendants, 19 of whom are under arrest, will be tried in relation to the fire that occurred at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya, in which 78 people lost their lives and 133 people were injured, begins today at the Bolu 1st High Criminal Court.

In the indictment prepared by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, prison sentences are requested for 32 people, including officials from the Bolu Municipality and Bolu Special Provincial Administration, for the crimes of "possible intentional killing" and "possible intentional wounding".

In the indictment, it was alleged that the owners of the Grand Kartal Hotel, company board members and managers Halit Ergül , Emine Murtezaoğlu Ergül, Ceyda Hacıbekiroğlu, Elif Aras, Emir Aras, Zeki Yılmaz, Ahmet Demir, Kadir Özdemir, Cemal Özer, Mehmet Salun, Bolu Municipality Deputy Mayor Sedat Gülener , Deputy Fire Chief Kenan Coşkun and Firefighter İrfan Acar were "responsible with possible intent".

Request for prison sentences for 13 people on charges of "killing with possible intent" and "intentionally wounding with possible intent" 78 times

The indictment also requests that 13 people be sentenced to prison for 78 counts of "possible intentional killing" and "possible intentional wounding", while it also requests that the hotel's technical personnel Tahsin Pekcan, Hüseyin Özer , and Bayram Ütkü , as well as kitchen personnel Reşat Bölük, Enver Öztürk , and Faysal Yaver , and occupational safety experts Kübra Demir and Ece Kayacan , Bolu Provincial Special Administration Secretary-General Sırrı Köstereli , Bolu Provincial Special Administration Deputy Secretary-General Bünyamin Bal , Bolu Provincial Special Administration Licensing and Inspection Manager Yeliz Erdoğan , and former Bolu Provincial Special Administration Licensing and Inspection Manager Mehmet Özel be sentenced to up to 22 years and 6 months in prison for "causing the death and injury of more than one person through conscious negligence" .

The hearing will be held in the sports hall

The first hearing of the case, in which a total of 32 defendants, 19 of whom are under arrest, will be tried by the Bolu 1st High Criminal Court, will begin today at 09:00. Since the capacity of the courtrooms in the courthouse will be insufficient, the Bolu Social Sciences High School Sports Hall has been converted into a 700-person courtroom.

Security cameras were installed in the hall, the interior and exterior of which were painted. A state-of-the-art sound system was installed in the hall, and an internet line was installed for UYAP connection. It is being said that the first hearing may last a week due to the number of defendants, complainants and the large number of lawyers for the parties.
