Ministry of Education issues inspection instructions for private schools

According to a written statement from the Ministry of National Education, provincial directorates of national education have been instructed to conduct the necessary follow-up on whether free textbooks, prepared and distributed in accordance with the “Turkey Century Education Model” and other curricula, are being taught in private schools. In a letter sent by the General Directorate of Private Education Institutions to all provincial directorates of national education, it was reminded that with the amendment made to the Ministry of National Education's Private Education Institutions Regulation on January 3, new regulations were introduced regarding the use of textbooks in private education institutions. It was reminded that in line with the regulation stipulating that schools will not charge any fees under the name of textbooks, the use of textbooks distributed free of charge by the ministry has now become mandatory in private schools. It was stated that in addition to the use of free MEB-approved textbooks, all fees, including tuition, must be determined and announced by the school.
ALL SERVICES WILL BE PROVIDED BASED ON DOCUMENTSProvincial directorates of national education have been instructed to continue inspections conducted to identify private schools negligent in these matters with the same meticulousness in the 2025-2026 academic year and to inform all operating private schools of the matter. In this context, private schools will not be permitted to use textbooks other than those approved by the Ministry. The fees for all other services, such as meals, breakfast, study halls, and transportation, will be determined and announced by the school and will be included in student registration contracts. All services provided to parents will also be required to be documented.
On the other hand, the fees for all services to be provided in private schools, either through procurement or directly, will be paid through school accounts in accordance with the provisions of the regulation.
