Statement from the Istanbul Bar Association regarding the attack on lawyer Adem Tekindağ

The Istanbul Bar Association Lawyers' Rights Center issued a written statement regarding lawyer Adem Tekindağ, who was attacked during a seizure process in Bağcılar.

“THIS ATTACK IS A SERIOUS ATTACK AGAINST THE DEFENSE”

The statement noted the following:

This organized attack, which took place during the official seizure process and in the presence of law enforcement, was a serious attack directed at the defense, involving threats, insults, and physical intervention. The arrest of only one suspect is insufficient given the collective nature of the attack. Witness testimonies, reports, and crime scene information clearly demonstrate that the attack was carried out by more than one person.

“ALL PERPETRATORS MUST BE IDENTIFIED AND BROUGHT TO JUSTICE”

The statement stated that the incident must be meticulously investigated in all its aspects, all perpetrators involved in the attack must be identified and brought to justice, the policy of impunity for attacks against lawyers must be ended, and no attack against the defense must go unanswered. "We respectfully announce to the public that we stand with our colleague, Attorney Adem Tekindağ," it said.
