Yaren Stork's pre-earthquake behavior drew attention

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir yesterday at 7:53 p.m. The tremor, which struck at a depth of 11 kilometers, was felt in Balıkesir as well as in many other provinces in the Marmara and Aegean regions. The earthquake affected both humans and animals.
Yaren, a stork living in the village of Eskikaraağaç Stork in Bursa's Karacabey district and whose friendship with fisherman Adem Yılmaz was the subject of a film, was also caught in the earthquake in her nest, having returned for the 14th time. According to NTV, Adem Yılmaz noted that Yaren had been behaving differently before the earthquake, saying, "She's normally calm in the mornings. But last night she kept flapping her wings and wanted to leave her nest. She was acting as if something was about to happen."
Yaren, a stork alone in her nest during the earthquake, stood up as the tremors began and observed her surroundings for a while. Yaren, who became restless during the earthquake and then returned to her normal state afterward, was captured on a live camera.
