They announced that from now on, América will start matches with a courtesy penalty.

Penalty kick nest.- In order to speed up matches and save work for the VAR, Club América will now start all matches with a courtesy penalty, according to Liga MX.

The measure comes after the referee awarded a penalty in favor of the Águilas in the last match against the Pumas after a defender breathed down the neck of the Azulcrema forward, forcing the center back to blow his whistle.

Is this “contact” by the @PumasMX player enough to award a penalty to @ClubAmerica ? It wasn't a penalty. Cesar Ramos and VAR made a mistake. pic.twitter.com/w7uLbpbtj6

América will now be able to manage every match from the start.

"If we're going to award them a penalty anyway, what better way to start games than with a penalty kick so the opponents come out with the mentality of coming back," explained a Federation spokesperson.

Under this new rule, the referee will blow the opening whistle and then head to the opponent's penalty area to signal that play will begin as soon as the Eagles take their well-deserved penalty.

According to the Refereeing Committee, the key has always been to score the penalty in the opening minutes, so that América can take the lead and "control" the rest of the match.

Likewise, the Federation announced that it is working on other regulatory innovations, such as allowing Azulcrema forwards to wave a flag to warn them when a defender gives them a dirty look, or when a fan in the stands gives them a dirty look, which could also be penalized with a penalty.

And in case you missed it: an Argentine channel was broadcasting Trump's UN speech, and they ran commercials because they didn't pay for YouTube Premium.
