Challenges and synergies of sustainable and digital reindustrialization

The Sheraton Hotel in Porto will host the PRODUTECH R3 SUMMIT – Production Technologies for Competitiveness and Sustainability conference on 2 July, a central event in a week dedicated to National Production Technologies. The initiative, promoted within the scope of the PRODUTECH R3 Mobilizing Agenda, will bring together national and international experts, businesspeople, policymakers and researchers to discuss the paths towards reindustrializing the Portuguese economy based on innovation, resilience and sustainability.
Starting at 9:00 am, the opening session will be led by Rafael Campos Pereira, vice-president of AIMMAP, and Paulo Sousa, CEO of Colep Packaging, followed by presentations by Ulrich Adam, general director of Orgalim – the European organisation representing technology industries –, who will address innovative production technologies in the European context, and Miguel Almeida Henriques, director of PRODUTECH and JPM Indústria, who will focus on the role of these technologies as a driver of economic development.
The most anticipated moments of the conference come next, with João Cotrim de Figueiredo, Member of the European Parliament, at 10.25, bringing a perspective on industrial transformation and innovation in Europe, followed by the keynote by Maurizio Gattiglio, president of the European Technology Platform Manufuture.
Before the closing ceremony, which will be held by AMMAP President Vítor Neves, there will be time for the session “The PRODUTECH R3 Mobilizing Agenda – Demonstrators”, where the results of the transformative projects of this strategic initiative financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) will be presented. Pedro Rocha, executive director of PRODUTECH, José Carlos Caldeira, from INESC TEC, and José Oliveira, responsible for innovation at Colep Packaging, will be present.
The PRODUTECH R3 Mobilizing Agenda mobilizes more than 100 entities around an investment of over 140 million euros, focusing on the digital and green transition of production technologies in Portugal. The objective is to accelerate the industrialization of innovative and sustainable solutions, with a direct impact on the competitiveness of companies and the creation of qualified jobs.
This conference is therefore an essential meeting point to reflect on the future of Portuguese industry, reinforcing the strategic role of production technologies in the country's economic transformation.
