The reason for the cold start of summer in Russia has been named

The cold start of summer in the European part of Russia is connected with global warming. The reason for the cool weather in June was named by the expert on climate issues of the Nature and People Foundation Alexey Kokorin, RIA Novosti writes.

"The cold start is connected with cold air invasions from the north. There is nothing unusual or abnormal about this. Another thing is that due to global warming and the unstable border with the Arctic, the Arctic air is invading the south more and more deeply. It is very warm for the Arctic, but cold for us," the climatologist explained.

According to Kokorin, climate change in the temperate latitudes is most closely linked to warming in the Arctic, where the boundary between them has become more mobile. Rossby waves — giant bends in high-altitude winds that affect the weather — moved along this boundary.

"These waves have become stronger and deeper. This means that the Arctic air is reaching not only Moscow, but even Texas, Morocco and Jerusalem," Kokorin emphasized. As a result, the climate in Russia is becoming unstable - some regions are experiencing abnormal heat, while others are recording unusually low temperatures.

Earlier, the reason for the cold start of summer in Russia was named as an anticyclone, which caused abnormal heat in Europe. Cold air masses formed and began to move to the east of it, forecasters explained.
